ABOUT US

Chestnut Playgroup offers childcare for children aged between

2 years and 4 years to come and learn through play, whilst under the care of our qualified staff.

Based in the Cathodeon Centre, next to the Children's Centre and our village library, our setting is bright and spacious and offers great facilities to the children who attend our playgroup. Children visit the library where possible as part of our programme of activities.

We have a large garden space with static play equipment, raised vegetable beds, fruit trees and a wildlife area.

The playgroup has close links with Linton Infant School, and aims to equip children with the basic skills in preparation for school.

Chestnuts is located just off the High Street, at the junction of Horseheath Road and Bartlow Road. There is parking in the Cathodeon Centre's car park, or alternatively visitors can park on the main road.

Our Mission Statement

Chestnut Playgroup aims to provide a high standard of care and early year's education in our friendly, safe and stimulating environment, where your child is happy, healthy and can express themselves confidently. We work in partnership with parents/carers to lay the foundations for your child's education and develop your child's learning as an individual; knowing how to inspire and nurture them as they learn through play.

Parent Consultations

Working in partnership with the parents/carers of the children who attend our setting is important.  We invite parents/carers to contribute their ideas and make us aware of their views through questionnaires and parent/carer consultation evenings.  Also, we encourage parents/carers to regularly discuss their child's progress and development with our staff, either after sessions or in a 'Parent's Evening' style event.

Committee Meetings and AGM

All parents/carers are invited to attend committee meetings and our AGM.

Newsletters, 'Parentmail' Emails, Class Dojo

You will receive news and updates by email.  Personal details will remain confidential and we will not pass details onto any third parties.

The playgroup sends out newsletters to parents/carers, which gives an update on what the children have been learning about and information about upcoming events.

You can also register to receive updates via Class Dojo, an app that makes it easier for parents/carers to engage in our playgroup and see what we are doing day to day.  Class Dojo gives great opportunities for us to share information in the setting and at home.  Links to register are sent for children currently attending.

Parent Information 'Meet & Greets'

We are now offering 'Parent Information Meet & Greets', which are available to all parents/carers of children currently attending the playgroup. These will offer information on different areas of learning - details about each event will be given via parentmail & Class Dojo.

Early Years Foundation Stage Framework (EYFS)

The EYFS sets out the learning and development stages

for children as they grow from birth to five years.

The EYFS outlines what Early years educators, such as

Chestnut Playgroup, need to do to support your child.

Please click here for a useful document for parents/carers which shows what to expect during the first five years of your child's development.
